Making Money on the Internet With Your Blog - Avoiding the Biggest Mistakes

By Anne Hilton
It's very easy to start out in the wrong direction when you are working to make money on the internet. Here is some very important information to help you to avoid some the of biggest blogging mistakes.

There is a lot of information on the net that will get you headed in the wrong direction, and have you wasting your time, money and efforts. And it can take weeks or months before you realize that the information you are using as your model isn't going to take you anywhere near where you want to go.

When it comes to blogging, there are convincing ebooks and learning sites that will encourage you to put up anywhere from 30 to 100 blogs, sometimes referring to them as "automated". There is no such thing as an automated blog. Any blog that is going to succeed needs fresh content at least once a week. The idea of putting up a ton of blogs and just leaving them to generate an income for you will have you working around the clock putting up these blogs with little or no return.

Another piece of advice that the "gurus" are putting out there is to sell the articles you have written as a package. The inherent problem with that is once other people start using your articles, you will lose your ranking on Google from these articles, because Google promotes only fresh, original material.

On the other hand, you can use article packages for the sole purpose of your blog - placing them on your blog is fine. You cannot however, place an article package you have purchased with the article directories because they are not original (which is a requirement of the article directories), i.e., they are being used by other bloggers.

It's also important to know, that the problem with putting your blog on a free site is Google won't recognize it. For Google to recognize your blog, you need a domain address such as MyBlog.com not for example Geocities.com/MyBlog/html. The Google spiders don't address that sort of domain for the most part, and the lack of traffic as a result will sabotage your efforts. WordPress is our recommendation for your blog, but they don't allow advertising of any sort on their free site. You will need your own host, which is very reasonably priced and you will find, much more rewarding in the long run.

Finally, when you choose your niche topic, stick with it. Make your blog valuable to your readers on the topic you have chosen. Getting sidetracked and taking your blog in other directions will drive your readers and potential customers to a blog that deals solely with the information they are seeking.
